The Role

The Accounts Officer ensures the timely and accurate review and reconciliation of daily branch banking and provides support to the Accounts Payable team with processing and reconciliations.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Bank statement reconciliation
  • Reconciling allocated General Ledger accounts
  • Processing, suspension and rejection of payments
  • Maintaining compliance, unclaimed money processes, EFTPOS machine database
  • Maintaining EFTPOS/Deposit Books for nominated regions
  • Maintaining data in related payment, reconciliation and accounting systems with integrity and accuracy.
  • Identifying and communicating improvement opportunities to work flow processes.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving errors
  • Working across other areas in the Transaction Processing team as required.

Reporting to the Manager, Operational Transactions, this role will work as part of a team in contributing towards the successful achievement of business performance.

The Person

  • Certificate III in Business or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in reconciliations / banking
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Keyboard and data entry skills with a minimum of:
    • 9,000+ keystrokes with 97% accuracy; and
    • 70+ keyboard wpm with 97 % accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being motivated and capable of working autonomously
  • A strong work ethic and previous experience in working in an office environment
  • Demonstrated high-quality communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with the ability to manage multiple demands
